While games like Halo 3 and Grand Theft Auto 4 are shattering worldwide sales records, FIFA is content with breaking its own. The latest game in the series, FIFA Soccer 09, has sold more than 1.2 million copies in Europe during its first week on shelves in, making it the fastest start the series has seen since its inception in 1993.In response, EA Sports president Peter Moore had this to say "FIFA Soccer 09's great kick-off is a testament to our loyal fans across Europe who simply can't wait to get their hands on the game. This is our fastest selling FIFA game of all time and it's rewarding to see the game so high on the list of must-have titles this holiday." I bet it's rewarding, Peter. Rewarding in a big fat money sign kind of way. And that cashbag for Electronic Arts is only going to keep growing, as FIFA 09 arrives in North America next week on October 14. For a look at why people are going crazy for this latest soccer sim, check out 1UP's preview.
